Many brides and bridal parties have never had a gown altered previously. I have included as much information as possible for questions I commonly receive and I hope to make your experience as "seamless" as possible.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, I work out of my home by appointment only. I take appointments Monday through Friday from 10 am - 5 pm. Please contact me to set up your appointment via a phone call, email, or text. Bridal alterations appointments do require a deposit to secure your booking in my calendar.
When should I get my wedding dress altered?
Plan to schedule your first alterations appointment for at least 8-12 weeks before your wedding date, depending the type of alterations and modifications you desire. Get your initial appointment booked as soon as you have ordered your gown as waiting until it arrives can end up costing you a rush fee or I may already be fully booked.
What is your turn-around time?
Scheduling appointments depends on your wedding date. I will make follow up appointments with you based on how far out your wedding is from our initial appointment and how many fittings we will need. For standard alterations we will typically need 2-3 appointments. Your final fitting will be around 3 weeks before your wedding date.
What do I need to bring with me to the appointment?
For bridal and formal gown appointments, please bring the shoes you will be wearing with your dress, and any undergarments you plan on wearing. Please wear minimal make up to avoid transferring it to your gown. Please limit the number of guests to 2 additional people and leave little ones at home so you can be fully engaged in your fitting.
What should I expect at my alterations appointment?
For bridal and formal gowns, you will try on your gown with your shoes and undergarments so we can determine what alterations are needed. We will also discuss any customizations you would like. For custom modifications, I will take your measurements and we will discuss your design and fabric specifications. I also appreciate your having inspiration photos ready.
For general alterations, depending on what you need to have fixed or altered, I may have you try on the item.
For all appointments, we will schedule a second fitting or pick up appointment and I will give you a final price quote. Please plan on the appointment lasting a half hour to an hour.
How much do bridal alterations cost?
The cost is based on what alterations you need and how time consuming and complex the gown will be to alter at a professional skill level. I will provide you with a final price quote at your initial fitting. Please keep in mind that the cost of your gown is entirely unrelated to the cost of your alterations.
Can I get last minute alterations done?
I offer express alterations as my schedule permits. During wedding season I may be completely booked. I do charge a 30% rush fee if you need to have a bridal gown altered in less than six weeks.
Can you work from my idea, a photo, ad or sketch?
Generally, yes. I am happy to work with you from your idea or picture; however, I cannot sketch an idea for you. Sewing is my talent; drawing is not.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash is preferred, however I also accept check or Venmo.
What do I do if I need to reschedule my appointment?
Please contact me within at least 24 hours of your appointment to reschedule. I value your time and I appreciate that you value mine. I do not reschedule with "no-shows". If you will be more than 10 minutes late for your appointment time you will be required to reschedule.
